While we sip our Christmas wine...
As 400 people died in Congo on Christmas day and the Palestinians in the Gaza strip continued to be bombed daily with no sign of Israel listening the pleads for even a two day cease fire, the tension in the Middle East is strongly felt. As we sip our wine this season of festivities and toast to our families and friends, we forget!!! Our comfortable lives even so close to some of these environments render as oblivious at times. So as the protests continue wishing for a different world and for the end of genocides the western hemisphere is preparing for seeing the back of yet another year.
2008 leaves with its last days described by suffering, bloodshed and tears. As corny, cheesy or ‘been said before’ as this may sound… let us all try and make some sort of difference for this year to come!! Some images now circulating in the news, images which we have now become so accustomed to… sadly…. And when they do not touch us we can continue to ignore… So for 2009 let us have some change…
